Actually it’s worked out fine.
Since I started doing this I have had zero frustration trying to set up a time to look at things. They tell me when, I show up usually the same day with a trailer in tow, look over the Item and if it’s what I want it comes home with me.
What is good is I have been able to set up time frames to look at multiple Items in generally closer areas doing this rather than waiting for some yahoo to finally decide to call or send an e-mail. Funny that when an e-mail is finally answered it always seemed it was just the start of another few days of he hawing around till some sissy la la who is afraid of life finally decides I was trust worthy enough to come look at something they could have probably sold for cash the day I saw the add 2 weeks prior if they just put a darn contact number in thier add.

To those who think this is a thumbs down, that’s fine but at least I don’t have to wait around on poor customer service. Which is what I am when I am the one paying the bill. So to put it simply if you w ant a cash buyer who will show up when they say with cash in hand and in most cases finish the deal today. Then you will have to put a number in your add or deal with the guy who doesn’t have the money or finds something else in the days it takes you to answer the add.

I would like to help anyone looking at buying a used tractor. I am selling off my collection of Ford compacts. I have been using craigslist. Craigslist email relay does not work very good. When I get a response from a looker, I return their email, but they never get it, so they think that it is sold. This is happening to everyone. Online auctions & large sales co's like tractor house, require sellers to pay $300 or more plus a per cent of the price, which really raises the amount a buyer has to pay. My best advice is buy local. Good Luck, Kenny

To my knowledge I've never had an issue using the CL mail relay functionality. I routinely respond to people and carry on a conversation. Wonder if the issue was with your mail client or mail provider?

Hi Rob I have heard words like thorttling & ghosting (whatever they are) I think I may have overlapped my ads, but I wish they would tell me that I was a bad boy, so I would know what I was doing wrong and of coarse I would stop it. I have now started to use my phone number, with no CL email hope that works , Thanks everyone for the replies.Kenny

Paul, I agree with you 100%. I don't care how "bad" I might want something I WILL NOT play the sent me an email and I might get back to you sometime game. I buy a fair amount one CL and sell some also. Never a problem with a phone number in the listing. I usually type out one digit between each hyphen in the numbers.

I can see that they might put restrictions on how many ads a seller has and how often they can be updated, but I wouldn't think they would do something that would silently drop communication for existing ads?? Is that what you are implying?

Yes this is what they are doing. I have been reading some complaints about CL This is what they are doing to a older lady trying to sell a book, but they are not able to stop prostition & trafficing ads who is running this company anyway?

I set up an email account that I use strictly for buying and selling on Craigslist. Completely different provider than my regular email and I only use it for that purpose. I just list that email in the add and people can reply directly. If I start having problems with too much spamming, I shut the account down and start a different one.

Same here. I always use the mail relay and I also put my Google Voice number in so that those who prefer to call or text can do so.
