1978 JD4630
I need the experts advice. I have a 1978 JD4630 at 150HP. A Cat III. Everything I look at as far as Box Blades, Bush Hogs, Post Hole Diggers, and Landscape Rakes are made for either Cat I or II. Can I use a Cat I or II with my tractor? My PTO is running at 1000 RPM so that is a BIG concern. If the implement is made for a 540 RPM, I'm done. But what about the other implements that aren't PTO driven? Could a little welding here and there make a Cat II work on a Cat III? Thanks for any advice.

There's equipment made for CAT III tractors. They'll be EXPENSIVE to say the least. You MAY get away with a few CAT II impliments, but with that tractors added weight X HP, you'll gut most equipment in minutes without so much as any effort.

SOME 540 RPM equipment (BIGGER balers, choppers, ect..) can be geared up or down for 540/1000 RPM use. But unless they're factory built to accomodate that sort of grunt, you're risking serious injury when you TRY to hook light-weight equipment to power like that.

I have a 4955 Deere (205 PTO HP) I TRIED ditching a drainage ditch with a CAT II, 3-bottom plow a couple years ago. I THOUGHT I could just go easy, and not hurt a thing. I "pretzeled" the plow in about 2 minutes. Never felt a thing.........

There's a reason why they put CAT III hitches on those big boys!

Hmmm, I was afraid someone would say that. Do you happen to know of a place where I can get these implements for a Cat III hitch.

Thanks
