Was a bit surprised as it showed 32lbs! [/COLOR]
Never thought of that possibility, so someone didn't know how to charge it properly. I love free solutions.

... Was a bit surprised as it showed 32lbs!...I bled off pressure to 18lbs as I set my pressure switch at 20 to 40 psi....
Since the pressure in the tank was set to 32lbs, my guess would be that the pressure was actually LOW and had been set at 38lbs with a 40-60 switch. Since you are using a 20-40 then, yes, the air pressure in the tank would need to be set accordingly.

This is one of the things I find that many people do. The switch goes out, they run to Lowes or Home Depot and pick up a new one. They either don't look at the settings, don't know they can be different or buy what the store has in-stock.

When they get home, they install the new switch and it works. That is all the more they think about it ... until the system doesn't work like it used to.

Any time you change the switch, always check a bladder tank air pressure and make sure it matches the new switch. Any good submersible pump should be able to work with a 20-40, 30-50, or 40-60 switch - you just need to match the switch setting with the tank settings.

Good detective work, that makes the pieces fit together nicely.

Glad you had an easy fix - WellxTrol make a great product - I have been using them for over 30 years and have two of them - one nearly 30 yrs old. It pays to check the pressure annually - I do it every time I change the whole house filters 2x per year.

Qapla - you got it right - probably changed the switch and never the tank precharge - who wouldda thought?

So IF the tank was charged properly you really should not notice. Before changing it out I would drain and recheck pressure.
Correct solution at #9.

Last reply from me on my thread . Here is photo of tag on my water tank, note what the psi was set on from manufacture. One thing I've learned is to double check ALL components when changeing a well pump, I did everything -----------except pressure in water tank.
