( Dan, not to flame you, but after the first experience, you should have known better not to put fuel and water into the tank and to purchase a Mr. Funnel.

No flame taken, but how was I to know better? That's not like a motor function or something that comes naturally.
My only fault was finding this forum too late in the game.

My choice of words, confronted should read "asked". I'll just take my business elsewhere and go out of my way to warn others of this dealer's less than professional practices.

As you will note, choice of words at TBN is very important. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Just realized that you are new to the group. I had thought that you were one of us "old timers" and that you just didn't get the Mr. Funnel because you didn't need one. Thanks Junkman! How's your product idea project going? I am anxiously awaiting a nice toolbox!

Like all projects, it is moving along slowly. A idea or two might come to production, but that is still up in the air. I will post when there is something to post about. Till then, I just keep pushing dirt. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well, since the water getting in the fuel is your fault, it won't and shouldn't be covered under warranty.

The only complaint I think you have is how long it took for the bill to get to you.

I would just pay the bill but be sure to mention to the dealer how long it took to get it and that you hope they will bill more promptly from now on.

Thanks, but don't you think that it is odd that the same service cost three times more the second time around?

The first time around it may have been done as a favor for being a new customer. After that it may have become a nuisance charge. It did teach you how to do it yourself, so look at the higher charge as including an educational fee /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Whether we like it or not, some things do become subjective. I am guilty of it myself in my business and have varied a charge for the same service.

I believe that varied charges for the same service are wrong, both in my business and in business's that I do business with. If I find that a company has more than one level of pricing for the same level of customer, I make a point of telling them that I won't do business with them any longer. This is an unfair business practice and even if I am getting the lower price, I will never know when the tables will turn against me. I treat all my customers the same. Same great service. Same great prices. I don't discriminate against people just because they might make the same mistake more than once. I treat others the way that I would want to be treated. FAIRLY this time and every time.

2 more cents.

It may be a mistake to think anybody put much thought into these two bills at the dealer's place. The first time around, maybe nobody punched in on the job or charged any time to it. Months later when somebody notice a service call had been made but not billed maybe they just guessed at a charge. The second time, the shop guys might have been more attentive about clocking in and out on the job and the charges flowed from that. If it's a busy place things like that can happen easily with no intent of inconsistent or unfair treatment. If the dealer is a one-man show, then the billing looks a little more shabby.

"Book" rates are high - they include getting out the tools, stopping for coffee, stopping again to talk to somebody who walks in, doing the work, putting the tools away, cleaning up, clearing a few acres as a "road test" etc. etc.

I have a little rule I try to use - if I'm pissed off, I try to wait a few hours or days until I'm not before returning fire. I don't always follow my own advice. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
