I am looking into starting a mulching business in the near future and would like your gueses input on machines and heads. I am looking at the Cat 299c, for the ride and cab, the Deere 333d, for the cab and dealler is the closest, and the Takeuchi TL250 high ambient package, the only one with a high ambient package. I was looking at a fecon head with chipper teeth, but am open for sugestions.
Thanks
Ryan

Ask a close friend to double kick you in the cods. You will recover from the pain alot quicker. Then find something you want have to work at just to make payments. The Deere is not a consideration. Not enough flow or capacity.

I had seen a guy on youtube running one that had an aftermarket forestry kit on it, so I thought it could be used.

Does not matter how they look. The fact is they are not made to mulch and they are not productive. If you plan on making it in this business you better have deep pockets and lot's of work. You will need something to do other than mulching.
The ones that are making it are not only driven they have found markets other than dealing with locals. They travel, win bids by knowing how to bid based on cost and output. The economy is not stable. I'm not saying not to follow your dream or to be afraid to try new things. But....

You want some advice? It ain't gonna be purty.
With the terrible economy worldwide...
If you can't pay cash for the machine,truck,trailer,insurance,...etc...
And still have an extra 20k or more laying around you will not be happy.
The only reason I'm still in business is because I have no other employees and am debt free.

OK you guys missed my point. Do not buy a skid steer. Buy a mulching machine, if you buy a skid steer you will have the same experience as every guy on here who has bought a skid steer or ctl. Dedicated equipment is the only way to go. You can build a business in the economy, if I can do it anyone can! I have gotten some help along the way (FECON!!!) but you can too.

I wanted to get a ctl so I could be as versatile as possible. I have experience doing grading work, and thought with all the attachments made for ctls I could do alot more than just mulch. The Takeuchi high ambient package is desinged for mulching, or at least that is what the bochure makes it sound like.
