I need some advice on buying a tractor, I have 3 acres to mow, 1 acres to brush hog, I take care of 1/2 mile of dirt road (including snow removal). I have lots of landscaping (dirt work and rock moving

(small type)) to do at this home and the new home. But mowing is the most use I will need this tractor for. Price is important (we are on a budget). I want a tractor that can handle brush hog, box scraper, and a post hole digger on a occasion. Any advice? We have looked at B7500 and B2410 prices 12,995 and 15495 for tractor and FEL (will plan on paying cash for the mower).

Hang around here, this comes up all the time.

You shoudl base your decision on what you need to do most of the time. That, and give consideration for how "big" your other projects are. As for mowing small acreage, the BX looks like a real winner. It also does real well moving dirt as long as the project is not real large (FEL handles in the range of 550 pounds or so).

I use a B7500 for similar stuff, and am real happy with it. Our drive/road is about 3/4 mile.

Not sure what part of the country you're located in, but your prices are somewhat out of line. My local Kubota dealer sells B7500 with FEL for 11,000. It's 12,000 if you want the HST model. Either model offers your choice of tires at no additional cost.

The only problem you might run into with the B7500 is use of an auger because of lift height clearance on the 3pt.

The prices seem a little high but not to far off. The B7500 can use two different loaders, the 272, and the 302. I have seen the B7500, with LA272 loader advertied at $11999, the 302 adds about $300. Folding ROPS is another option that ups the price of the B7500, tires do to. If you can get a discount on the tractor and the Kubota equipment of 15%-20% then you are doing well. I am from Wisconsin and can't seem to get more than 15-16% off.

You're in the right range... B2410 features you're paying extra for are...

- Larger/more powerful engine.
- Larger fuel tank, consumption about the same = longer field time between fill-ups.
- More 3PH lift capacity (1655lbs vs 1356lbs @ LP).
- Position control.
- Ability to accept larger implements.

They'll get the same work done, but the B2410 if coupled with larger implements can get it done slightly quicker and with slightly less effort. Mower differences between the two are only if you're looking at a rear-mounted mower. In which case, the B2410 can take a 72" RM mower, vs a 60" on the B7500. It's possible to put a 72" on the B7500 but I don't think I'd recommend that.

The realistic difference between the two in terms of mowing power for a lawn, if using the same sized mower, is really not going to be major. You would have to mow a lot of wet/heavy/thick grass to really justify the extra 2 PTO HP the B2410 has, if mowing is your primary use as you mention.

If it were my decision based on what you mentioned, I'd probably buy the B7500.

cook: from what u posted, think the b7500 would do u fine. a lot of machine for the $$$$. in your case don't think a few extra hp or pc is what u need. but then again, u know your needs better than we do.
