Thanks for pointing out MapQuest. I use it all the time and just today a buddy mentioned their aerials. I'll try and find mine...

It really is nice to see the layout. My friend's Cessna also works well at this...

OK there is no comparison, for photos you can't beat MapQuest. It is far easier to find your way and center on what you want.

TerraServer also has Topos and some other things.

I have never priced a custom photo from a local flyer, they may not be too bad, especilly if they can do it at their convenience...

Here is my place on mapquest Zoomed in on the south half. The ponds are a lot clearer, but this is the same picture as Terraserver. A whole lot easier to find, though...

Thanks Steve. I did as you said and managed to find my place. The only problem it would not let me zoom in for a close up. Some areas I found I could really zoom in for good detail. Others I could not, my place included. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif I may try to download the picture and see if I can play with it with a photo editor when I have time.

My property zooms in nicely with MapQuest. I actually saved several pictures and pasted them together, and then added my property lines in to create a nice aerial picture of my property.

I am sure more and more areas of the country will get updated pictures through MapQuest as time goes by.

A while ago, I posted this message about an Aerial photo I had taken of my property. It's not centered very well on my property but I like it. By the way, contrary to what I wrote in the previous post, those are not the Blue Ridge mountains, those are the Allegheny mountains in the distance of the picture (picture looks West).

Sorry if that long URL throws off the width of the thread, I don't know how to make it shorter - maybe one of the moderators can fix it for me.

Not all the photos are in color. For example, the mid and low resolution photos of our place are in color, but the high-res photos are b/w.

Great shot, and post. Just the idea. I find these really help when looking for and then maintaining the special place we've dreamed of.

You have a great place there. I grew up across the Mason Dixon but spent a lot of time stomping in those Agony Mountains in WV (we Pittsburghers pronounce things a little differantly....)

Anybody know of a site like this for Canada? Mapquest seems pretty limited.
Thanks,

Ever wonder how the tax appraiser always knows when you add improvements? This is one of the tools they use here. It does not work so well in heavily wooded areas though as long as the trees are not cleared.
