Massey Ferguson 2860
I have a Massey Ferguson 2860 with FEL and am thinking about an aftermarket back hoe. I use the tractor with a rotary cutter quite a lot as well as a rear blade in the winter. I would be interested in thoughts or cautionary warnings. Are they worth the money? Any particular ones better than another?

Is there some reason you do not wish to order a MF CB85 factory Backhoe from your MF dealer? It is highly probable the factory Backhoe will fit properly and not encounter interference with your MF frame.

Probably a $7,000 outlay.

Are Backhoes worth the money?

How important is $7,000 in your financial picture?

Your MF 2860 (4,400 pounds bare tractor weight ) is a good candidate for a $400 bucket spade.

Will a $400 bucket spade fulfill your need, preserving $6,600 of your money?

I use the tractor with a rotary cutter quite a lot as well as a rear blade in the winter.

A bucket spade is much faster to mount and dismount while your Three Point Hitch remains available. Bucket spade can be stored in any corner of your barn or garage.

You confuse us when you show MF 1759 in your T-B-N PROFILE and MF 2860 in your post......

The first thing to do if you DON'T want to spend 7k is to go look at used ones. Look for the right hp req and if it requires a frame or if it's just 3pt.

If it's used, check for leaks in the rams and control box. Also check for loose bushings. All of which can be fixed, but they will lower the cost of the arm.

The biggest thing is get one that won't break your tractor in half. So the stock one posted above size or smaller.

I have a Woods 1080. But I also have a 100hp tractor. I'm adding Fram components to the tractor to distribute the stress to make sure I stay in 1 piece. Quick rule of thumb, double the arms minimum hp for what your tractor needs to be to easily run it. The Woods 1080 is 50hp minimum and my tractor is 100hp....it works.
