Aftermarket brand oil voiding the warranty?

Probably true.. accept where synthetic comes in. If the dealer doesn't have it.. and you want it ( as it seems many here do ).. then that would be a quandry for the 'owner' wanting synthetic oil.. but the dealer telling them the warranty will be void .. etc..

( I suspect that since you use older equipment, an a lot more of it, and since I buy new and use less, and for different purposes, then perhaps we that may be why I see it differently than you do.
)

Possibly.. But I do see your point. I DO buy parts and most consumables from my dealer.. just specifically not oil... the reason for that is when i do an oil change.. I'm changing the oil in like 8 tractors... not 1. I use a deisel quality fleet oil that easilly meets the gas job requirements.. and i buy it by the pail. I'd take a significant wallet hit if that pail had a NH sticker on it compaired to valvolene fleet or napa fleet.

And actually.. for crank case oil.. NH oil isn't that bad.. it's their 134d UTF oil that is nearly 50% - 100% more expensive that other brands of UTF Again.. on one tractor.. that's not alot.. but on my 'fleet' that's like um nearly 40 gallons of utf if I do a service!

If I only had 1 tractor.. I suspect I'd pick up the oil there as well.

)

No debate there.. the counter person IS the problem. How management deals with it determines if it is a small problem or a big problem. If management does not 'correct' that employees line of thinking.. then it becomes a big problem to the owner. It's the same with banking. If the teller gives me a hard time.. I have a problem with the BANK. untill someone steps in and fixes that.. etc. After all.. the teller / counter person is the representative of the business.

( Now there is an "expected and acceptable" level of service, and then there is the front of the line, top of the heap, bend over backwards to help you out type of service. )

Agreed. And /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gifWe all want the bend over backwards kind!

( I want the special service where they guy swings by my house on his way home to help me out at no charge type of service. . . I want the type that goes into other departments and lowers my prices on other purchases type of service.
)

Also agreed. I'v had to call into the service dept. and have the service manager talk me thru a few procedures while i was out broke down in the pasture on my NH 7610s a few times... ..and beleive you me.. I was happy I got that level of service.. and did make a point of calling the owner later that day and letting him know that I valued and appreciated that service..

( I'll pay the extra $3 or maybe $5 per year that it costs to buy my oil from the dealer )

If that's all it were for me.. I would too. But hydro oil alone.. on a 1 per year change.. is a 100-200$ difference between NH brand oil.. and 2 other UTF brands. Like I said though.. most other parts and consumables.. I DO use from the dealer
.. He's got to make money somewhere...
