Kioti Dk50se hst
I have a 2014 Kioti Dk50se since new, 900 flawless hours. I think I have a bad or weak glow plugs. Hard to start on a cold day. They are all getting proper voltage. Rather than removing them twice to test and replace, I would rather just replace them all at once. Any recommendations on aftermarket glow plugs or should I just stick to OEM?

Thanks

You can test them in place. Just pull the bus bar out and measure the resistance in each glow plug. The one that gives an open circuit or a very high resistance, should be the bad one.

Accordingly to the MichiganPartsEquip parts catalog, this should be the part number: E6301-65511

Thanks for the information. I put in the part #and it shows $86 for one glow plug. That can't be right can it?

If not NGK or some name brand and part number, You can pull one out and measure it and then try to cross reference it to a name brand. That is what I did for my Branson.

Or just cycle them twice.

No, when they go, they go. I lost 1 at a time over a period of a year, until I got down to 1 working. I ordered 4 from KIOTI dealer. Easy to replace, but removal of hood sucks on a cab tractor.

Afterwords, starts like a new tractor again.

I removed a glow plug, it's a Beru 0100226393. Not made any more. I researched the NGK glow plugs. NGK y-107r is the closest except for heater tube length. Many on the list are no longer available. Factory is 18.5 mm. The NGK is 22mm. The NGK are $17 on rock auto. Will the extra length be too close to the piston? I also found a set of 4 aftermarket on both eBay and Amazon for $30.
.
I was also able to find a dealer in PA for OEM glow plugs. Cost is $194 including shipping for 4 of them. That's far better than $85 from many other Kioti dealers.

I just looked up the receipt from Jordan Sales for my glow plugs. 4 plugs were $191.44 that’s $47.86 each.

And there a Kioti dealer.

The extra 2.5 mm in length is 0.098” or a little under 1/8” so I would be concerned about what they might hit. Is trying to save a few $$ worth risking damage to your engine?

With the glow plugs removed it could be easy to measure and check clearances.

It's very tempting to buy the aftermarket ones which are the right size for $40. But I decided to not mess around with unknown aftermarket quality or compromise on a different size. I will purchase OEM glow plugs.

I've tried cheap aftermarket glow plugs before on a 4x4 truck. It was a complete bust. First set worked for about a week. Second set sent by the seller at no cost, lasted maybe 2 weeks.

Finally bought some Bosch glow plugs and those just worked.

GRS- did you remove the loader to make it easier to get at the glow plugs or just the hood?

I'd find a better check is to pull the bus bar off and measure AMP draw of each w/made up jumper and meter.

Loader and hood. My problem I could not find anyone that could help me on the day I planned to do the job. A second set of hands for the hood are a necessity. That’s a heavy chunk of steel.

I finally got the new glow plugs from the dealer. They are now Bosch India 0250 212 016. 11V. Every one of the originals were all bad . It's amazing it started at 10 degrees after 3 tries. Two measured open and two bounced around like 30 mega ohms.

Before I replaced mine, my tractor was getting harder to start at 50°. Now it starts at 5° (today) with no issue.
