LS XG3140H
Hey there, XG3140H owner here. I bent the upper adjustment bolt of my mechanical top link, the left-hand threaded one with the ball at the top. Dealer wants over $100 for the OEM replacement, so I am trying to do the fix with an aftermarket part. I know I can buy a whole new top link from Tractor Supply for like $30, but would prefer to fix the existing one so I don't waste so much metal. Thing is all the aftermarket ones I'm seeing are imperial, and the OEM one (according to the parts sheet) is metric, M24x3. According to my research 1" imperial is a close match for M24 though I don't know about the thread pitches. I found one 1" LH cat 1 top link repair end online, can anyone speculate about whether it would work, or point me to a source for one that does? Thanks! - Tim (Wawa, Ontario)

yeah the thread pitch will be the biggest issue, metric is definitely different. I recently had to replace a hydraulic hose on my harbor freight log splitter and was next to impossible to match. I had to have a shop cut the end off my hose, and machine it to the end of a new hose. pain the rear and cost 3 times what a generic replacement hose should have cost.
good luck finding what you need! You may just wind up going new all the way and add that metal to your scrap metal pile, although I could think of a few things I'd try to make out of it :)

Can you remove it?

If so, remove it and straighten it.

Why is it defective? The OP clearly said that he bent it. Probably by hitting the ROPS when folded or something alike.

Sometimes I wonder if you read the posts at all.

Back to the topic, I'm not sure if you are able to find a metric end for that. You might have to get a new unit instead.

I'm thinking we need more information.

I'd probably have it straightened and rethreaded if possible. Though that might cost more than the replacement.
