Terramite T5C
Hi all. I'm new to the forum. I just purchased a 1996 T5C. The boom cylinder is leaking and I want to replace it. Also, one end of cylinder was previously welded, so it is not worth rebuilding. After calling Terramite and dealing with sticker shock for new cylinder, I decided to shop aftermarket parts. Does anybody have have any leads on where to lookfor a replacement cylinder? Thanks for any help.

How ironic! I have exactly the same issue/question. My T5C is a 1992. boom cylinder is the wrong one, previously welded, and can't pay $490 for a new one! Any help here appreciated!

I have taken measurements of the cylinder, which appear to be 16" stroke, 24" pin center, 2 1/2" bore and 1" pins. However, I can not seem to locate an aftermarket cylinder with those specs. I found some 3" bore cylinders but I know the body of the cylinder will be too wide to fit the pin mounts on the machine. I will keep you posted if I find anything. Please do the same.

Nice work! I believe this would work. However, they are out of stock until September. I'll probably wait and order when they have stock.
Thanks!

bassdr, how did that cylinder work out for you? Just curious. I am ordering one for my machine now (finally!). By the way, my machine is a 1993, not a 1996.

Any report on whether the replacement cylinders worked? I just salvaged a Terramite T5C from a collapsed barn...a couple of cylinders are missing...any measurements of boom, loader or stabilizers are greatly appreciated!

Yes. The cylinder was a perfect fit. Only a few items to note. I had to flip the hydraulic line connections from below to above the boom cylinder. The required SAE adapters take a bit more room. You will need a couple of adapters to convert the SAE fittings on the cylinder to the NPT fitting on the lines. Cylinder has been on for a while and working great.

I've got a similar problem.I have a T7 with a curved boom and need a new crowd cylinder. The one that's on has a severely bent rod and its NOT an original cyl. All Im sure of is the Pins are 1". Sticker shock at Terramite is severe so Im looking around. The problem is I dont know the original specs for the cylinder and Terramite wont come off of them. I've asked on other forums and I keep getting different answers on the original part #.

If you cant find the dimentions i would get the boom all the way up and start with the collapsed length.

Cant nyone. The cylinder off off and the rod broken.

Use a comealong to pull it up. Im sure you can find dimentions on full height of bucket or loading height. Get it to that point and take a few measurements. Going by some 3rd party knowledge on the Internet is iffy at best.

I measured the old cylinder. Fully extended id 46 1/2". The bore is 2 1/2", the rod is 1 1/2", the pins are 1". It worked alright.Maybe Ill just order one that size.

I wouldnt order a cylinder based on the fully extended dimention alone. You most likely spend more time at full boom up when loading a truck or something. Having both would be real handy when you order a new cylinder.
Surpluscenter.com has a prety good selection of cylinders.

Its hard to believe you bent a 1.5in rod with only 2.5in bore. Do you know how it happen?

nope.I loaned it out and thats how it came back.

Do you happen to still have part # ? I can't find this one and need one. Help a old man out who doesn't understand all this stuff. THANKS

I just happened to be looking at this thread because I recently had to replace the seals in the curl cylinder on my T5C. The seal kit cost me $69 and took the better part of a day. My hose fittings were so tight to the cylinder that I gave up and just worked with the cylinder on the machine. Then there are two seals on the piston that I had to heat in hot water to make pliable enough to install. Overall, not the easiest job.

I also happened to notice this review on Amazon where someone bought an aftermarket curl cylinder for about $100 shipped and then had to convert the fittings. But he got a new cylinder and didn't have to mess with changing the seals. https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-...ef=cm_cr_dp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B009PJELO8

A 2in bore, 16in stroke and 1in pin size cylinder is prety standard. Converting from SAE Oring to what i assume is NPT is simple and can be done for cheap.

I wouldnt mess with a seal kit if the cylinder wasnt something special and a new being so cheap.
