Tires Ag tires & heavy loader work

Thanks!

Just seems like I would have seen that suggested to help with the problem of heavy loader work, and since I didn't, made me wonder.

Your father is about 2 hours west of me. Hope he loves the U.P. like I do!

A 4610 with loader weighs in at about 5000 lbs. If ony 30% of the tractor/loader weight is on the front wheels that's 1500 lbs. With a loader bucket full to capacity you can add 1800 lbs, all of which I think goes on the front wheels, and now you have 3300 lbs on the front tires that together can only carry 2400 lbs.

There is a flaw in your reasoning, and it makes it WORSE. A load set dead over your front axle would add directly to the weight on the axle. A load in-front (as in an FEL), not only do you get the weight of the load, you actually unload the rear axle. Hence the need for ballast on the rear end to keep it down. I am not going through the C of G calculations, but suffice it to say, you are moving it signficantly forward with a load in the bucket, therefore more load goes on the front axle.

Sorry to make things even worse.

Nick

Guess like always there are compromises and it depends on what the bulk of your work is going to be. R1's definietly better for traction. R4's defintely better for loader work. Problem is most people around a farm have all types work. I have noticed with a full bucket of wet sand my R1's squat pretty good. Haven't lost a bead yet, try to not turn unless moving but haven't increased tire pressure yet (although next time I will !!)
