I am getting a popup from Malwarebytes everyday but at least, all you have to do is click on the x to close it. It isn't like the popup from McAfee where you had to go to the Task Manager and close your browser.

I suspect you could get rid of that popup by doing a clean reinstall of Windows.

Once you have used malwarebytes just uninstall it to avoid any popups then reinstall if you need it again in the future.

If you're familiar with msconfig, just go to the startup tab, uncheck the Malwarebytes entry, hit Apply to save the changes, exit and reboot the system. That should get rid of the popups, otherwise you'll have to uninstall it.

I don't understand why software publishers insist on making their products so annoying.

Because a lot of people will buy the software update to make the popups go away.

Similarly, look at how hard MS makes it to setup a new Win 11 machine without a MS account.

I will be reading a long story or watching a long video and when I start getting close to the end, this McAfee popup comes on my screen blocking it. There is no way to get it off except hitting control, alt, delete and using Task Manager to close the browser. Then you have to restart the browser and start over at the beginning at whatever you were doing.

I have good virus protection on my computer and have never had any problem with viruses since I installed it a few years ago. I have never had McAfee on this computer. I'm wondering how I can prevent this from popping up again.

It's a scam run by scammers, probably using india call centres, paying google/facebook for ads to promote their malware and steal money from you.

Number one source of viruses on the internet is google. FB is probably #2.

The page blocking popups started again. I finally got rid of them by using the McAfee Removal Tool.

I'm not a fan of McAfee at all. They are very questionable with some of their ethics. My daughter's new computer came with a 3 month free trial. At the end of the trial, she got some very scary notices. I believe that McAfee did something to trigger Google to say her account was possibly compromised. I've noticed that multiple programs have gotten McAfee to install with them by default.

I use Webroot both private and professionally in a network of 450+ users on 40 sites for the last 10 years.
