Have a look underneath. Cheap ones have 2 rows of flimsy bristles, somewhat better ones have 3 rows on each side. Better sweepers have 4 heavy duty bristles , like would be on an old Parker sweeper, who's been eaten by someone, forget who. So the moral of the story, 3 rows of moderately stiff bristles will get much of what you want into the hopper.
