I was just given an Agric tiller built in 1997 in Italy according to it's tag but there is no model number. It's been setting for 4 years and seen it's share of abuse but works great.

1) I looked for a place to drain the oil and replace but can't find one. Do most tillers have sealed oil that can't be replaced without taking the case apart?

2) The only place to lube seemed to be one zirc by the chain enclosure. I pumped about 4 times and the grease gun didn't get hard. (No comments please). I was afraid to put more grease in because I was afraid I'd blow some kind of seal. What do you think?

3) There were 2 small caps, one on top of the tiller and one on the side but neither had a screw thread. When I lifted the caps off there was a tiny hole under each. The holes were small and didn't look like anything could be filled there but was more like a pop off of some sort. Anyone seen something like this.

4) The tiller size is 48" but has about a 1" protrusion on each side. It has 5 rotors with 6 blades on each. It's very heavy duty. I'm pulling it with a Kubota B7510 which is 21hp. At the rpm speed of 2600rpm it appears to pull OK but I jusr want to make sure I don't hurt the tractor. I pull it very slow. Any feedback about that would be appreciated.

Have a great holiday.

Do you see anything similar on their website? You should contact the company via e-mail for a manual.

Just open the fill hole, stick a tube down into the bottom and then use a manual or electric oil drain pump. You can find these at Sears, hardware store, Northern Tool, etc. If it's going to be a one person job, the electric model will make it easier.

Usually you pump until it squirts out the a seal. Can you see a seal on the bearing you are pumping grease into? There should also be a grease fitting on the bearing on the opposite end.

Pictures would be helpful.

Does this unit have a shear bolt or slip clutch? If a shear bolt, make sure it's the proper grade recommended by the manufacturer. If slip clutch, make sure you service it prior to use or you can damage your tractor.

You should not have to worry about putting too much grease into the chain zerk. Just look at the chain diagram and you will see why.

I would think each bearing on the tine shaft should be greaseable. There may be another greasing point at the top for the bearing supporting the chain drive shaft.
