YEP! The first job of the new season! Got a call last week from a guy that was building a new home starting this week. He needed 1-3/4 acres of "light brush" mowed down. I gave him my "rates" He told me it was worth MORE than that! He needed it done right away. He offers me $275. GREAT! Fire up the John Deere!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif LET'S MOW!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The "light brush" ends up being an over-grown thicket. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif A tangled mess of Honeysuckle vines, cedar trees, and 2" to 3" saplings... What a way to start the year..... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Good thing I decided to bring the HEAVY duty mower... Oh well, start shreading...

Well, 1-1/2 hours later, I'm loading up when I notice BOTH front tires going flat.... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

What a way to start the year....... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Found a fence board in the weeds with a couple rusty nails... Got BOTH front tires with it. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

At least I got to spend the morning outdoors, on the tractor... Watched a young Hawk trying to catch a rabbit that was bigger than the Hawk! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Spring is upon us....LET THE GAMES BEGIN /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yep, better weather ahead. Got a couple of jobs on hold for drier times! Being outdoors without heavy clothing and doing stuff you enjoy makes it worthwhile though, doesn't it? And you even get BONUS time to do some unexpected repair work. Sometimes a good deal just gets better!

You said it!!! I got the tires loaded (LOL), the drink holder attached, the first aid kit, sunglasses, gloves, tools, radio/headphones, the Duke ball cap, and I am READY........
Come on, Spring!!!!!

73 degrees yesterday, fired up the 2210 and tilled the new garden spot, then drove 2 1/2 miles to my daughter's place to grade the driveway. Just doesn't get much better than that. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

It hit 62 degrees here yesterday. Tonight it is supposed to drop to 17 degrees. Light flurries are due Wednesday.

This has been a very bizarre year for our weather. Far less snow than normal. Far warmer than normal. Only 2 or 3 heavy snows. Only one cold snap were the temps held below 0 for a few days.

What are you talking about. Is there life underneath this 18 inches of snow?

Bob it seems that you and I are a bit further Northeast than the rest of these tractor jockeys. Spring will still have to wait a few weeks here in Ohio. Way too early to worry bout planting corn yet. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

They just announced on the radio that the wind chill for Tuesday is supposed to be -10 degrees, the actual air temp will be in the upper 20s.

And we lost our snow cover so it is just cold and ugly outside!

Yesterday I pulled the snowblower off the tractor and parked that, did some routine maintainence on some things, but if I would have tried to have taken any of the tractors onto the grass they would have sunk axle deep in the soft ground (and the mud created by the snow melt) that came with the unseasonably warm weekend we had.

Sitting here Monday afternoon, I think you spoke too soon. Yesterday was spring trying to push winter out, but today!! Winds in excess of 30 mph and temps after yesteday 73 today 31 what a rude awakening. The bright side is in the near future we see more warm days and time to do projects with our equipment. A side note, 60 days from now I should be picking mushrooms. Doesn't get any better, tractor time and mushrooms. That is spring!

Like every body im itching to get started. Does one start on a project while the ground is still frozen or wait /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif until drier conditions /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
