Well bird and bill ya'll share the birthday of one of my most favoritest fellas of all time, my grandson. I also have a cuz who has the twenty eighth as a birthday but when I think of the twenty eighth of January I think of my youngest grandson.

In the last six months he's got me in some trouble once and almosted another. I was talking to his uncle, my brother in law, as we were looking over the custom monkey bars I'd made the boys some years ago. I asked bro in law if'n his kids would to a hand over hand on them. The kids looked at me like I'd asked them to strip naked and run through the mall for grins. Youngest grandson jumped up there and just did it. He did it and did it and did it and then he did it some more. I asked bro in law how about him doing it. He laughed and looked at me like I wanted him to strip naked and run through the mall for grins.

So I did it. One trip across was all it took to tear up a shoulder. We suspect it's the rotator cup. I say suspect because I'd rather suspect than have a doctor tell me for sure. Of course since he is the brother in law he'll be the last to know that I hurt myself showing off. There are rules to this game.

Then just before Christmas visiting the same brother in law I tossed youngest grandson the keys to my new truck and told him to drive it over to where we were all talking. He didn't hit anything getting it from there to where we were at. But every now and then when I breathe just wrong I can still feel that knot that was in my chest while he was driving.

He has a dry sense of humor that keeps me cracked up. His grandma can't understand how him being so quiet and timid and me being so loud and abrasive can get along so well. I just know there's not much better than knowing someone so special really likes you and it's not because they have to.

That's the way they do it in day care and preschool... if its your child's birthday and you want treats for your child and his/her friends, you bring them. We usually get little treat bags and stuff 'em with candy, soap bubbles, little toys(child safe, of course). Sometimes there're 30 kids in a class, so you haul it all in. Cupcakes work better than cake for them, too. All the kids come home with stuff from the party and no one gets left out. Makes your kid want to give stuff, too. That's a good lesson for them at that age.

Thank you, Ron, and yes, we did get in a round of golf today; 52 degrees early this morning, and stayed cloudy until well after noon, but got up to 66. Actually quite a pleasant day.
