Which is what I was asking a couple pages back, and got a lot of snarky answers.

The fact that there may be 100,000 new jobs in AI programming doesn't help some 50 year old guy who just got laid off an assembly line job.

Some of the younger folks that got let go the same time I did got grants to get trained on CNC, and started new careers at local places. I'll have to check in on them, it's been 8 years.

One "trade" that should worry, Translators. I have seen some incredible stuff that auto translates live speak to most major languages. Obviously it still needs improvement as Mexican Spanish isnt the same as Puerto Rican Spanish, or Old world Spanish, but if you make a living as the Sign Language lady at a public meeting, id start learning another skill, as thats Easy to replace with AI, and do a better job, for a fraction of the cost

I actually wish there was regulation to limit only actual AI software, to being advertised as such.
That’s just a robotic arm with sensors, etc. It may be more advanced than a 40 year old system, but it’s still just a preset program controlling an arm using sensors.

I sometimes use Google Lens to translate non-English text, and amazingly, thing written in other than Latin alphabet.

Agreed. We watch a few 'cops' type programs and there's a lot of translation on cell phones going on.

I don't know how large of a field it is... I've only met one professional translator in my life. She and her husband were from Denmark. She spoke 5 languages fluently, and could muddle herself through several more.

Here in northern Indiana we only have to speak Illinois and Michigan.

Dont blame AI on people being to stubborn to adapt... Thats not a new thing, there is still a guy with a land line and quarters for a pay phone somewhere.

There will absolutely be people that "opt out" on one extreme, and on the other, there will be people that do the opposite, and have AI in virtually every aspect of life. As most things in life, moderation is likely the right way. Maybe dont have AI write your wedding vowels, or sign the birthday card; but at the same time, you dont need a stack of math books around to solve the volume of a 3d cone, when Chat can do it in 5 seconds

First jobs real AI will replace, are those that only require voice, and data entry, retrieval.
Jobs that require physical motion (besides fingers on a keyboard) will take much longer to be replaced because of the required automation, and resulting, safety issues of such

No, it's not. It's autonomous. You might want to read up on it.

I’d have no issues with companies buying AI phone help systems to replace the hard to understand ladies in India and other countries around the world they currently pay to answer your questions when you call.
