Thank you, John. I didn't realize that such a thing was available for my tractor until I read this posting and started checking. I've got one on order.

Dan - engaged my mouth b4 engaging brain - yes I have the doo-dad not sure what I was thinking when I wrote that other than my air cleaner does seem to clog fairly rapidly and the indicator is not really showing that it is cloged!?

GVW - Question: What indications do you have that it's getting clogged? Poor power? Something else?

Using the air filter indicator (if equiped) is the correct way of determining when an air filter needs replaced. You can not go on looks alone or the amount of dirt that you tap out of the filter to determine if the filter needs replaced. A certain amount of dirt is required in the air filter before it reaches it's maximum efficiency. As others have stated, sometimes more dirt enters the engine just by removing the lid and taking the filter in and out. The filter manufacturer's say to replace and not blow out dirty filters. Some readers may get several years out of an air filter and others 2-3 months depending on amount of useage, conditions it's operated in, and type of air filter. Regarding the original question, the Donaldson or Filterminder would both work well and they could be found in a salvage yard for trucks-equipment.

MChalkley - recently had an episode of smoking and running terrible - dealer looked at it and changed air filter - presto bingo - ran like a champ - indicator never moved. Starting same sequence again - indicator looks fine????

I believe every utility tractor I've ever owned/operated had dual inner/outer air filters... and the tractor mfr. would advise periodic "cleaning" of the filters... but of course the "air filter mfr." would require you to "change" them on a daily basis if they could... /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif
