Air Compressor Recommendations?

   / Air Compressor Recommendations? #61
I have a blast cabinet also but for outdoor blasting with a 3/16" inch nozzle I need more.

I'd like something that doesn't take a large space when I am not using it. Maybe the air end off something converted to PTO?

Regards, Fred

If you want that much air buy a used 185Q or similar. Lots of them out there. CJ

A cast iron two stage about twice as large as what you think is required.

Ditto on this.

I have 7.5 hp Curtis. Love it.

One big advantage of 2 stage is moisture control. When you compress to 150 psi the air volume can hold less moisture, so moisture condenses and drops into the tank to be drained. It is at 150 psi, 100 percent humidity.

Now pass it thru a regulator and drop the pressure to 90 psi. As the pressure drop the air expands and can hold more moisture, so the relative humidity drops to about 165/105 = 63% relative humidity, and you wont have free water droplets in your air piping. The air temperature also plays into this, thus the advantage of inter stage and after coolers.

I'd rather have used USA quality than new Chinese.

Consider 3/4" PEX, sharkbite fittings for your shop air piping. Works great.
