About 2 months ago the air filter warning light appeared on my 3010 with 65 hours on the meter. I found it hard to believe that the filter was the problem since I just had the 50 hr service with the air filter changed at the dealer about a month prior. Sure enough when I opened the front and took out the filter it was clean as a whistle. I removed the grass and junk that had accumulated on the radiator screen and I wiped off the little contacts I saw in the inside of the air cleaner housing. The light stayed on. My initial call to the dealership was rather disappointing. At first they said it wasn't under warranty because the tractor was two years old. Then they said it was probably just a bad light bulb. I must have told the guy ten times that the problem was that it wouldn’t go off, not that it wouldn't light up! Anyway, long story short, I finally found someone at the dealership who seemed like he knew what he was talking about. At first he wanted me to bring the tractor in for repair, 50 miles there and 50 miles back for a malfunctioning censor. I told him no way was that going to happen.
Well the part came in last week and I drove to pick it up. Replaced the censor last night and no more warning light. I still need to mail the old one back to him, but finally I can stop looking at the orange glow coming from my dash.
Oh, by the way I spoke to a mechanic at the dealership (wanted to make sure there were no tricks to replacing the thing) and he said this was a common problem on the 3010. Apparently the factory had a lot of these bad censors at one time.
