Air filter

Smoke.

Put a smoke source before the air intake and see where the smoke exits from down stream from the filter.

I don't really think that'll do anything but be sucked into the engine along with the air that just passed through the filter. Wouldn't that have to be a pressurized area to get pushed out a hole?

I’ve had minor issues with aftermarket filters not matching perfectly.

On one it was the rubber being like hard plastic which made for a bad seal.

Does your tractor have a single or dual air filter setup? Someone may have forgotten to install the secondary filter, and fine dust that passes by the primary filter is what that is for.
The 1910 did not use a secondary filter, just the single.

I think the idea is you move the smoke around and see if it gets sucked in after the air filter somewhere. I think they make smoke machines for this kind of thing.
