Pepper spray is good for most situations and the .22 would work and is quiet. I'll keep mulling all this.

Interesting. I didn't realize that kind of accuracy was possible with such a short barrel.

It ain't easy, but single action and don't jerk the trigger and it's fairly easy to nail a cottonmouth in the head.

Ok, how about carrying a big can of pepper spray.. it would deter the animals of any stripe, and I would think it would be legal on your own property. It should solve the problem

An alternative to pepper spray is just a spray bottle with full-strength ammonia. Sort of the skunk defense strategy. Some of these guys will shoot a stream 20' or more. Even fewer legal restrictions than pepper spray.

I don't know how ammonia or pepper spray works on snakes, but I have always considered a firearm to be a poor second choice to a shovel for snakes. Until you get up to the really huge constrictors the shovel will let you chop the snake up, with the snake becoming less of an opponent with each chop.

Have you thought about at Taurus Judge? The 410 shells would provide ample protection at close range and would not send projectiles into the airports air space. At least not very far.

I cannot think of a single air rifle that is readily available here that I would recommend for humane coyote control.
