Air Rifle Any hope for accuracy?

Thanks milkman... I didn't know about the artillery hold. Good stuff. No judging here but why do you shoot turtles? I have a liking for them but then I am not from around your neck of your woods!

I raised some Mallards and I lost a few to the turtles, so till they grew up and flew away, it was war on the turtles. I had an enclosed pen by the pond and would put the ducks up at night, but the coyotes and coons still tried to get to the them so I put a battery radio there and turned it to a talk station and run it at night.

HA! What station? Any difference in effectiveness if you tuned into conservative or liberal talk radio?

"I have been trying to site in a cheapie Beeman Air rifle with Beeman scope."

I started with the R7 as a training tool for my young sons. A very worthy air rifle. The lessons quickly moved from gun safety instruction to a full on competition! My youngest could barely reach the trigger and could do well on a 10 meter silhouette target. As far as scopes on air rifles go, the scope on my R7 is more expensive/nicer than the scopes on any of my deer rifles.
You can make a safe, quiet, ricochet free target by using electricians duct seal as a backstop. Repeated bullseyes will not penetrate it. Mine has a slot dado-ed so you can easily change targets and there is no movement while shooting. As someone said, you have to try all different weights, pellet styles and brands to see which pellet groups best for your rifle. Good luck with it!

Thanks. I have been busy and not on site. My air rifle is the Beeman model 1040. I have to go back and read the replies.

Thanks for the info on artillery hold, i'd not heard of that. From the explanation in the video, it makes sense. Similar to how you hold a bow with similar torques and recoil.

I've got several from many different manufactures. My favorite is a side cock RWS springer. Very heavy but accurate and barrel doesn't move. Eyes going weak and bought Nitro Piston 2 with scope. So far extremely accurate, scope holding up and staying on target.

I found the RWSs can destroy a good scope and make the best scope rings walk. Ruined an expensive scope before getting setup with a proper spring piston scope and rings setup on the RWS.

I probably haven't fired my air rifle since I wrote this. Just no time.

I looked at some air rifle sights that sell parts, etc,,
they like heavy duty rings, and four, rather than two rings to help stop scope movement seems typical.
