Air suspension seat for 4000 series cab?

/ Air suspension seat for 4000 series cab? #11
Last question... Has anyone ever had to replaced their air pump or had issues with their seat? I am hoping the seat will last a considerable long time.
Have never had a single failure with my air seats and I don't recall it being a hot topic here on TBN.

Probably to late as you already decided but I would have said no. The normal seat is more than adequate in my opinion. I guess I am in the minority on this one.

I would say you made a good choice. Love my air ride seat! Much more comfortable - especially on a bad back.

Have you gone forward with the purchase?

Yes, I have. The tractor will be off the assembly line January 3rd, 2012 and should have it mid to end of January.:)

So, the waiting game has started. Time seems to go very slow until delivery of a new tractor or vehicle (at least for me).

I considered the air ride seat when buying my 4520 cab, went back and forth between the 4720 and 4520. Finally opted for the 4520 without the air seat and had enough room in the budget to swing the 673 tiller. I would have preferred the air seat and may add it later. So far I haven't missed the additional power of the 4720 but maybe I don't know what I am missing.

Thought about the air ride for about 2 seconds, then decided against it. It just semed like an outrageous price, even by Deere standards. Not only that it's one of those things can be added easily later if needed.

Turns out, the seat that came with the tractor is very comfortable! $650+ saved!

To be honest, I do not think the price is out of line. I have a Scag tiger cat that did not come with a suspension seat and it was just horrid to operate. So I went to the Scag dealer and got a Scag suspension seat (nothing more than a Michigan suspension seat w/Scag's name on it) for $400.00. JD air suspension seat costs $650.00, so I do not see it being too "out-of-line." I also look at it as I might as well get to done now because I will not do it in the future; I tend to procrastinate on getting other features once I have the tractor.

Another question. I have been reading a lot of threads about other tractors brands, "standard" and "off brands," being similar in quality and features, but when I look at John Deere in CUTs, it seems they are still ahead of the pack with Kubota coming in second and Massey as third. On the Ag line, I still think JD is ahead and Kubota, NH/Case and Massey coming in second. While 登ff brand names such as Kioti, Mahindra, LS, TYM and etc. are decent quality tractors with a lot of weight and lift power (3PH and FEL), I still think JD engineers there tractors better even if you pay more for a JD. Am I missing something or is it true that most tractor bands are now becoming equivalent to JD, but at a lower price point? Does it make sense to purchase a JD tractor anymore at a higher price point? It is my bias, but I believe JD, NH/Case, Massey and Kubota are the top tractors out there, but JD is still the leader.

Most people who use equipment often over the years have had several brands of tractors. I can only speak for myself but I have found good equipment is available under several different brands. I liked the older Case, IH, Ford and Deere, of these Deere is still intact with good parts availability.

Lots of people think the Deere green paint is more costly, my take on it is over a longer period of time their all about the same. That is a well taken care of tractor of almost any brand will last for many years and the difference in cost of ownership is minimal.

I have all Deere equipment today because this brand is well represented in my locale and the fact that I have had good luck with them over the last 45 years. I can only go by the experiences I have had to decide what to buy.

Lots of people on this forum have other brands such as Kubota, Kioti and Massy Ferguson and too many others to name. Almost everyone seems to be happy with their choice which leads me to believe that they are all good. So I recommend you find the tractor that fits you and you can operate comfortably that also meets your needs and requirements
