Hey, Wawajake, talk about the pot calling the kettle black! No one's mind is more obviously made up than the guys with their head in the tar-sands. Canadian oil is worse than most oil production. Accused and guilty. That said, it's just supply and demand. If we could stop consuming so much, we'd all be in a better place. Don't worry, the earth will survive all of us idiots who are doing nothing to slow the demise of this beautiful space-ship we're on. Anyway, sign me up for a glass of kool-aid. It tastes a lot better than drinking that Canadian crude.
You know of corse all the oil Canada produces will be refined and burned somewhere. You also know it can't be refined more responsibly and burned anywhere cleaner that in the USA. You already knew all the oil is being shipped around to the gulf where the only three refineries designed to use this type of oil is already being used and was in your tank now! Supporting it being shipped to somewhere else and burned dirty makes no sense to your argument, unless your just ignorant or are really against all oil products. If so just say so, don't hide. How's that Canadian crude taste? HS

Another point of view:

20 Years of Winter Cooling Defy Global Warming Claims - Forbes

Face it, as with so many other agenda-based schemes, this one is nothing more than a vehicle to expand the power of government. Laws on this issue have/will reduce your freedom and empty your wallet.

Authored by a Heartland Institute Senior Fellow. "... senior fellow for environment policy at the Heartland Institute ..." Hmmm. What policy exactly does the Heartland Inst. create? Sounds like the Heartland Shadow Government. He is definitely more interested in keeping score than science.

From his bio: "I studied atmospheric science and majored in government at Dartmouth College. I obtained my Juris Doctorate from Syracuse University." I'd like to see his transcripts for his "atmospheric science" studies. A Government major who completed Law School. All the credentials needed to go on the Pro Liars Circuit.

From the first link at ICECAP--also an organization with an agenda--the graph clearly shows the average Contiguous US Dec-Feb temperature has slowly increased. The "trend" line with temperatures (in red) shows increasing weather extremes: colder winters, hotter summers, more active storms are part of the predicted climate change results by real climate scientists.

Of pine beetles I know little. I know real foresters recently determined that extreme cold temperatures have little effect on Hemlock Wooly Adelgids, but Emerald Ash Borers don't have the same tolerance to extreme cold below -21F. However, since the EAB spends the winter under ash bark giving them some protection, open air temperatures cannot be correlated with EAB mortality. In summation, the ash and hemlock are in trouble.

The Heartland Institute:

It's pretty bad when a Texas judge says this about the Heartland CEO:

An August 2014 Travis County Texas court ruling highlighted President and CEO Joseph Bast's lack of credibility and reliability:
"Mr. Joseph Bast, president and CEO of the Heartland Institute, testified for the Intervenors regarding the Texas Taxpayers’ Savings Grant Programs (“TTSGP”), a school voucher bill that failed in the 82nd Legislative Session. As a threshold matter, this Court finds that Mr. Bast is not a credible witness and that he did not offer reliable opinions in this matter. While Mr. Bast described himself as an economist, he holds neither undergraduate nor graduate degrees in economics, and the highest level of education he completed was high school. Mr. Bast testified that he is 100% committed to the long-term goal of getting government out of the business of educating its own voting citizens. Further, his use of inflammatory and irresponsible language regarding global warming, and his admission that the long term goal of his advocacy of vouchers is to dismantle the “socialist” public education system further undermine his credibility with this Court.

Who is ICECAP? Who funds it? Who knows? Why don't whoever they are want us to know?

Really, from any position on this discussion a person needs to understand where the message is coming from.

This thread will be also closed in short order. Too many idiots around that think people are killing the planet and evil corporations are behind it all.

Those same people never seem to remember tons of faked emails and out right lies to prove their views.....we don't even have global warming we now have climate change. Duh the climate is changing always has always will. Do humans have an effect on climate....IMHO in local areas yes they do, world wide nope. One volcano does more to the planets overall "health" then humans have done from the start of time.

Volcanoes have been spewing since the dawn of time and nature has adjusted to it. Nature is not trying to find a new balance to incorporate our ADDED input.

It's sad that you actually believe that or think that your comment makes any sense. Here is an experiment I can recommend for you. Seal yourself in a tank of pure CO2. Oh wait, that would be fatal. How about 50% CO2? ...
Dave you can't breath 100% O2 at 1 atmosphere pressure so your test for Co2 as a pollutant renders O2 a pollutant :)

When that huge Tsunami killed all those people I was curious. There are no good numbers on actual daily births worldwide but using the estimates that Tsunami only set us back about a day and a half of 'production'.

The standard death rate takes care of about 1/3 of the potential increase in population. Add in the US 50+ million lost to ab_____n. Consider the recurring anomalies such as the Holocaust and World Wars, tyrants like Stalin and many others. It's always going to be "something." There will be disease we've never heard of, wars we never dreamed of and natural disasters exceeding anything we can imagine.

I'm just saying - don't sweat the small stuff. The earth is going to survive our best efforts to destroy it.
