Albino weed?

I guess it just lost it pigmentation. But this thing stands out in the pasture from a ways off. What causes this?View attachment 467934

I've seen albino Redwood trees, pretty small, and even single limbs on redwood trees that were albino. It's a very strange sight indeed.

If you ever wanna make a trip to see it, it can be found in Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park in Felton, CA. They also have an example of a deciduous redwood, the only deciduous conifer that I know of. It's a dawn redwood that is native to western China. It drops its needles every winter.

Regarding deciduous conifers, the larch tree also drops it needles. We have a really tall one at our cabin and every winter someone will say "that dead tree needs to come down" so I get to enlighten them.

I checked it today. It's on the wane compared to normal weeds. uploadfromtaptalk1463000642230.jpg

Good to know. I've never lived very far north so that's a new one on me.
The Dawn was thought to be extinct until they found a small stand of them in 1944 searching for uranium deposits in Western China.
