Several AC tractors that I've owned I converted to 3 point. The best conversion kit out there is from Saginaw County tractor parts. Here is a picture of one on my D15.

i've just been outbid on 2 d-14's on ebay...****. they both had the 3pt conversion so that wasn't going to be an issue for me. oh well, there will be others. thanks for the info.

We have some of those implements using the snap coupler two point lift system. They work I guess, but it seems like we use to have some problems getting implements adjusted correctly. These tractors are all pretty much retired from serious farm work as of these days. We keep them around because they are just so handy to use around the yard for pulling trailers, mowing etc. Depending upon what a person needs a tractor to do...they are a good bargain up in this country. Most everyone here has gone to four wheel drive and tracked type tractors pulling 30 - 40 foot implements.

Isn't that frustrating...being outbid I mean. In some parts of the country there are people collecting 60's and 70's vintage tractors...Allis Chalmers is one them along with John Deere. This drives the price of these tractors up some especially if they have been cleaned up/painted and have good tires. What condition were they and how much did they sell for?

one sold for $2551-had o.k. paint, straight body, and pretty decent tires. description said it belonged to a golf course that was being developed into housing, so that means it either always had it's maint. done, or was completely neglected. the other sold for $3751 had very nice paint and a trip style loader. tires didn't seem to be more than about a year old. looked like it had a life of living in a garage. had i been able to go and SEE these tractors i probably would have went higher, but it's hard to throw that much money at something based on a few pictures and the sellers description. so i'm still shopping, but then again, that's half the fun

Sir;

My old D14 ( a '58 model) is the toughest tractor I've ever used... I've been a MF man all my life, but picked up that D14 for $700 (couldn't pass that up). Of course, it needed overhaulin', and the shift fork on 1st gear was chewed, so it needed building up - along the way, I've replaced a gear or two, and rebuilt the hydro.

But - before I rebuilt it, I pulled my dually flatbed - with a gooseneck behind it, loaded full of logs - out of a mud hole. Since I was by myself, I put the truck outta gear and pulled it up a hill with the D14....NO PROBLEM...I guess the rolling weight at around 10,000 lbs. But that ain't all....when the engine was torn down, two pistons FELL outta the sleeves...there had been next to no compression in the 2 & 3 cylinders at the time!

Allis made some dang good engines I'm sayin'...You won't go wrong waiting to find a good'ern.

My Grandpa purchased a D14 brand new in 1958, he always had the grandkids run this while he ran the WD 45. It sold when he moved to town in 1976, it was a very good little tractor.

My D14 is a 1960 and it is my all time favorite tractor. It still plows snow occasionally, pulls hayride wagons, runs a bush hog, and runs in parades. I converted it to a standard 3 point hitch so I can use common implements with the other tractors. It is as handy as a pocket on a shirt! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We used a D-14 on a 3-bottom plow for around 10 years. Never had any trouble popping out of gear doing 50-60 acres each spring in some pretty tough soil and there were many days when we ran from first light until after dark. No maintenance problems, just a little "thirsty". With todays fuel prices, not a real good choice compared to a diesel if you have serious work to do. I do miss that old girl though, mainly because of it's dependability, and would not hesitate to buy another for occasional use.
