Ok, so where did dethaw come from? Thaw, defrost, i get those, but why would you take something out of the freezer to dethaw it? First time i heard that i thought the person was just messing with me. I got a very puzzled look, when i guffawed.

Generally little things don't bother me. One comment which drives me nuts though is "I could care less."
There are a lot of things that I could care less about; doing a good job, taking care of my health, keeping my bills paid...
Things which I couldn't care less about are things which I try to avoid.

Moot Point is where the famous lighthouse, Donzerly Light, is located.

The not variation jabs me in the eye like a red hot poker right through several layers of safety glasses and face shields.
There is alot to loose when ignorance reaches critical mass.

From people who were told that unthaw was wrong.

Bruce

Dethaw would be properly rendered as de-thaw. De-thaw then means proper thawing is a 2 step process. First you thaw then you repeat the process to make sure the action is complete.

Reminds me when working for he Navy, they issued a writing manual called "Plain English". It was an attempt to get rid of government-ease. See another hyphened solution to a cumbersome word. I think I still have a copy somewhere as I used it a lot over the years especially when I was developing construction specifications.
