banjobj, there's nothing wrong with leaving it on there, but sometimes it's in the way when mowing, tilling, etc. so I have mine off at least as much of the time as I have it on. Only takes a 2 or 3 minutes to change as long as you're on a hard solid level surface. Of course I've never taken mine off anywhere but inside the shop.

Bird, Couldn't help but notice that after 20 or so posts we are back to "it only takes 3 minutes to remove the loader". Keep up the good work.

<font color=blue>I remember that one well</font color=blue>

Doc,

I don't remember it well enough to know if that particular episode bankrupt that ladder maker? Do you? I seem to recall that it was a distinct possibility at the time...

Your are right, I found it in my manual. Its even on the same page EXCEPT, (small quibble here). It is on the FEL manual page that explains how to remove the loader. For dunder heads like me, they should but it on the re-attaching the loader page as well /w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif

When I removed the FEL it was solid ground- frozen. Spring thaws can really change the landscape /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

I did the same thing that you did. I have a L3010 with a LA482 loader. Something caused one of the uprights not to line up correct, using the hydraulic control to try and line up the upright, the loader came down on the hood and damaged it. Now when I take the loader off and put in on I remove the cross brace. This only takes a minutes and if anything like this happens again, the hood will not get damaged.

I big trick in taking the loader on and off is to always go very slowly with the hydraulics. Try to remember that every time you put your hand on the lever to make an adjustment and use slight pressure.

It's no fun when that loader makes a big move you were unprepared for. You will get the hang of it though. Like bird said it does not take long. About 5 minutes for me with the L. I take mine off about once a week to mow and then put it back on.
