I would love to know where you got it. I searched all the local box stores which sell mostly Kidde. The only ABC rated extinguishers I could find were very large. What brand is yours?

My stupid dad never cleans the loose grass out from under the hood of his riding lawnmower, and every single year he has a small fire under the hood of it!:confused2: I've told him a million times, but he never cleans it. I often clean it for him, but sometimes it gets bad and catches fire. Nothing like burning up a $10,000 JD X475!

It hasn't hurt it yet, but I fear it someday will!

It has always seemed carzyto me that you are required to have a fire extinguisher if you have a boat but not for a car, truck or tractor....

Did you ever try to run away from a boat fire??? A marine fire extinguisher is to keep you from drowning!

When picking a fire extinguisher for vehicle use take a good look at the ratings, i.e. what they mean. The "A" rating on a 5lb ABC is very low. Great for oil, poor for wood/paper/hay. Miked74T

You can get them pretty much anywhere. I don't know why you could not find them. Here is a link for one:

We have a "Harvest code of practice" ...not law, but you can bet that your insurance company will require you to comply with it, and that failure to will be considered negligence by the fire services if you start a fire.. the HCOP factors in temp/humidity/windspeed and fuel load and when the combined number hits a certain point you have to shut down till it drops below the magic number again...
Part of the code is that you have to carry a min of a 9lt pressurised water extinguisher on the harvester/tractors and a shovel and have a tanker of over a certain volume fitted with a powered pump and hoses parked in the paddock aswell... All paddocks require a 4m firebreak round the boundry too...

Each year we still have a few headers go up in the district, but most fires are contained to a smallish area of crop...or a single paddock at most.

My tractor came equipped with an extinguisher - they are often used for mowing along highways where an extibguisher is required.
