Well, Kinda did it. I was backing up with the door open on the tractor and hit the garage door track. Bent ....ok mangled it and bent the hinges on the door and it popped off. One of those moments when you go oh %$$#.

However, after an hour I was able to beat the garge door track back into shape and it worked like new. Then, with a bit more force and a 5 lbs hammer I was able to bend the hinges on the tractor cab back into shape.

Not a good way to start of the spring! All of that just to help a neighbor move several stumps.......

Maybe because it was due to the lack of a beer or two before I started....IMHO

But I am up and running and no more problems with bent metal!!!!

I'm glad to get over the first dent or ding on a new whatever. I don't feel so bad after that.
Especially a tractor. After all, it's supposed to be a rugged mechanized "tool" isn't it?

I did that to the door on a Firebird at a gas station. I hope you had better luck straightening than I did

I remember the old Firebirds, doors were about 6' long but the hinge were located near my knees. What a poor design as far as ergonomics.
Just to be clear I have never ever put a scratch on any of my tractors or other equipment.:D

Did the same thing to my ford ranger last year, truck is like new except for the bend in the driver's door. Backed up with door open next to tree, tree won, temporarily, untill I cut the sucker down.

I did the exact same thing. Started my own part-time landscape company...did my very first job with the tractor. Felt good about the money I had made for my first job. Went to put the tractor away in the garage and suddenly I saw the profit I had made go away. Rops caught the garage door and I had to catch the door from falling on me. Surprisingly, it wasn't as bad as I thought. Took about 1.5 hrs to bend and hammer back together and now you can't even tell.

Sounds like I'm in good company. Last year I was pulling my flatbed truck on the new drive on lift in the garage. I was so focused on aligning with the lift ramps I caught the overhead door frame with the edge of the bed. Cha-ching! That's the sound of $500 bucks going to the metal building repair guy.

I guess the easiest leasons to remember are the expensive ones.

Have a safe weekend.

I too did the same thing. It was right after I got my JD. I was storing it in a POD storage unit while we were building a house in the country. The first time i tried to put it inside for the night I forgot about the ROPS since it was behind me and it had been a long day. I got most of the way in and they there was a lot of creaking and popping and the front wheels were coming up. I assumed that since the floor was wood it was having a hard time with the weight, but I said screw it and gave her full steam ahead!! It was about that time that the roll up door was ripped off of the POD and fell and hit me in the head.

Because I'm so smart I had declined the damage protection for the POD, and then I had to pay another delivery pick up fee for the replacement POD. All told it cost me about $700.
