As the title says I am just about ready to pick up a BX25 and I am wondering what kind of tires to get. I will be doing some landscaping, so I am leaning towards turf tires, and I do have a John Deere ride on for mowing so I won't be on the grass all the time with it.
I will mainly be using the BX for digging and snow removal around the yard. I have read that the turf tires are actually a little better in the snow because there is more rubber hitting the ground.

I am looking for some feedback.

Thanks
Terry

I have all kinds of tires on several machines, I can tell you tire chains are almost a requirement in the snow. I'm a big fan of the R-4s, but the R-3s would also serve you well. Just keep in mind, all 3 tires take different rims, and the R-1s are the least expensive of the 3.

This is an endless debate here on TBN. Ask yourself what your number one task will be. No, no, not the other three or four tasks, but the number one purpose for buying the machine.:laughing:

ALL choices are a compromise of some kind, as NO one type tire can do everything well.

No problems with the R4's on mine.

I had 2 main purposes for mine, mowing and snow removal. I chose turfs for that reason, and purchased tire chains for the snow.(chains work fantastic on turfs)

Works like a dream for my purposes:thumbsup:

I can dig dirt, but it spins easily. I can use a 1 bottom plow, or middlebuster.....but it spins easy. I can use the 1 row cultivator, but it spins easy.

I can still do it all, just takes more passes for some chores.

:laughing: truer words has never been spoken here!! endless debate on which tires on BX. Some swear by R1, or R4 tires. I swear by turfs.
I use mine in some landscaping and it works just fine. I do snow clearing with no issues once it was loaded with rimgaurd. (oh boy I opened another debate on loaded tires or not :D:laughing:)

As my photo suggests, I've got Ag tires on my (previous) BX24, with loaded rears (operated with turfs in the summer). Since I was doing snow clearing in the neighbourhood, I didn't want or need the extra length of the Backhoe, but I did want the weight...thus loaded the tires.

As it turns out, after buying the B3030HSDC which I had ordered with turf tires, with the snowblower on the back and FEL on the front, I had more then enough weight to plow and blow snow.

Keep in mind that turfs will clog up quicker then Ag tires, and in clay, will turn your turfs into slicks.

I'd suggest that you figure out what the most likely work you'll be doing over the most amount of time and choose accordingly. Good luck...

What type tires?
Loaded or unloaded tires?
Dino or syn oil?
OEM or aftermarket filters?

But my recent, new favorite debate is............ drum roll please.....

Do you, or do you not, drop the SUDT at the 50 hour mark!

The correct answer to all of the above is easy, BTW. The world isn't going to stop spinning either way you choose, but then, a forum's purpose is discussion.

Pretty much in agreement with BPFick, all are going to be a compromise so concentrate on what you do most. I had bar types on our BX2200 and Industirals on our BX2660 and both worked well. We use ours mostly for mowing, but use to do a lot of FEL and box blade work until we bought a bigger tractor.

We have very little snow here, so I don't have a lot of experience though it worked OK on flat ground when we have had snow.
