Went to the dealer today and we would have settled the deal if they didn't leave. Going to some kind of tractor convention I think, but anyways the price sounded good to me. Although when the man left he told me he had to double check what he quoted me. All I can say is this if he goes up one cent over than what we agreed on deals off. I also want to thank some of yall for all the help in the past and present. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hard to believe he'd walk away from a sale to go to a /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif CONVENTION? The cardinal rule is NEVER let the customer walk out as he might never come back. Sounds fishey to me. I think I'd be prepared with some alternative dealers.

Yeah, that sounds really weird. Maybe you should write up the contract and have them sign it. That way you know what's in it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That's a good idea.

I had a new car dealer try to pull one on me. We took a test drive, agreed on price and options. As he was writing it up he mentioned that floor mats would be $149 extra.

I said "no, they won't"
He said "you don't want them?"
I said "yes, I want them. They're in the description of included equipment, they were in the car we test drove."
He said "Well, at this low price, we can't include the floor mats"
I said "goodbye", and walked out.

He followed me all the way to my car trying to get me to com eback and talk about it. Just before I closed the door, I told him that I would not do business with someone who pulled that kind of dishonest b***s***. I was taking my business elsewhere, and would buy from that other dealer as long as they were honest from the start, even if it ended up costing me $149 more.

You floor mat deal reminds me of a pickup I tried to buy. In 1987 I was trying to buy a new Jeep Comanche, it was available in a 4cly or V6, I had decide the V6 was the way to go. Anyway, one place I went was in Springfield, Missouri. Told them what I was interested in and took a test drive. During the entire test drive the salesman kept telling me I wanted a 4 cly, I kept saying NO I will only buy the V6, got back to the dealer, settled on a price, he wrote it up - for a 4 cly. Told him to NO, change it to a V6 or forget it, he refused, said I didn't really want the V6. Things got hot, really hot, I walked through the show room tellling him he was a stupid sob, among other things. Guess you know I didn't buy s..t from him. Did buy the Comanche with V6, just from a different dealer, never regreted it for a minute, great little truck. Some salesmen are just born stupid and get worse as they get more experience.
