Doofy y'all doin ok up there?

We are just fine. The Folks in Anchorage and Mat-Valley had a long, rough night due to the massive amount of aftershocks. Hard to sleep when your house is shaking and rolling and groaning all night.

Yes, very scary for those in the middle of it. Kind of a anxious nagging fear that just wears you out. The scientist's claim only a 4-5% chance of The Big One but then admit they can't predict earthquakes.

Well, glad to hear that you're just able to roll with the flow:thumbsup:

"roll" being the operative word there, right??? ;)

This quake did "roll". That is what was so nauseating about it. Like being really drunk in a row boat. The Wife jumped up and stood in the doorway but I was stuck on the couch and would have fallen if I tried to walk. It just felt like ocean waves rolling under the floor.

Hi Doofy. All things being equal - hopefully the initial one and all the aftershocks have relieved the tension for a while. Its really big when its centered near Anchorage and you get the "ocean waves" all the way up there in Glennallen. It was the noise that got to me in the '64 quake. I had taken a break from college and was working up in Anchorage at the time. From the look of the road system - might be a while before you can drive to Anchorage. So good to hear that you & the wife are OK.

Thanks oosik. Highways are mostly open with a few delays here and there. The nice thing about being retired is that we don't have to be on those roads.

The '64 quake scared the devil out of me. I had just finished stealing all the light bulbs out of a couple of old pinball machines I found in an old shed. Was almost home when the ground started rolling and the roar was deafening. I thought the volcano's were erupting and God was going to punish me. Trees and power lines were swaying back and forth almost touching the ground each time. The dogs were running around barking at cracks in the ground. The cabin was swaying from side to side and a mobile home behind the cabin was flying up and down. I was an absolute angel for years following that.

Yea - too bad more folks up there didn't think God was punishing them and act as an angel. Of all the dam things to happen after the '64 quake - the worthless scum were looting stores in Anchorage. The National Guard was called in but were not authorized to "shoot on sight". Such a shame - that would have gone along well with all the other CLEAN UP activities.
