Alternative to the grease tube.

I've used one of these for about 10 yrs. and they almost entirely eliminate the problem with air pockets in the grease gun, quick and clean refilling and a 5 gal. bucket of grease lasts me a l o n g time. This one is dirt cheap.

Ha, not me. I never get covered in grease. But what I do find is that I get a few blobs of gease in places that I had no idea existed, then I go into the house and sit somewhere, or brush up against something, and the lovely Mrs_Bob starts in (and rightfully so) because I left grease all around the house and you can follow where I went by following my path . . . like a breadcrumb trail through the forest to the gingerbread house.

Been using them for years. It's the only way to fill a grease gun. Not only that but grease is a lot cheaper in a pail than it is in tubes.

I to think all I had to do is walk by the garage to get greasy.
I have gotten better as I have gotten older.
Now I only get greasy if I actually go in the garage.

My Dad used to work at a factory that made heavy equipment.
They got their grease in 30 gallon drums. But the sucker tube
didn't go all the way to the bottom. Always left almost 2 inches
of grease in the bottom. We just took the lever action gun and
removed the top and stuck it down into the grease. Then pulled
up on the plunger. Just like a big syringe it sucked the grease up.
Put the cap back on it and used it till it was empty again.
I didn't know grease came in tubes till I was in my 20's.

I was going to suggest lard! I too am covered with grease just trying to change out a tube.

That's one of the whole reasons for using a bulk filler pump, not getting covered in grease because you no longer have to deal with grease tubes.

5-6 gallon / 35-45 pound pails of grease have a huge price range. It depends on how good of a grease you get what the price is.
