Aluminum Axle Housings

Hi Bob - when I was shopping, the local NH dealer mentioned the castings as a desireable characteristic and pointed out the 3-pt lift capacities 24" behind the balls were (if my old notes are correct) TC24DA@1265lbs vs. B7610@1058lbs. The 207lbs diff translates to a rather notable 16%+ capacity increase; however, I don't know how much is attributable to housing or hydraulics. I suppose if you push any machine out of it's design envelope you risk breakage. I have worked the 3-pt on my 7610 harder than as I -responsibly- should have and nothing broke yet! So all in all, I've generally been pleased with the capabilities for residential use and expect many years of service. The only problem I've had in 200hrs is a grease zerk coming off a FEL fitting.

For just dead lift applications.. i would hope the 3pt lift relief valve would be set to pop before a casting gave away. mind you this doesn't takinginto account othere stresses.. .. like hooking a backblade on a rock.. etc..

I guess I'm content that it's nothing to be concerned about in my application. Like Bob Skurka pointed out it's a small tractor biased toward residential work and that's how it's being used. Probably 50% of its time will be finish mowing with the rest divided up between light FEL, back blade and possibly snow blower work. With turf tires it isn't going to be pulling stumps or a plow; and there's no need to with larger machines on hand.

There was a chance of trying it with a tiller sometime in the future. However, with all the rocks around here, both tractor and tiller might get beat to death.

If I do manage to crack the case, I'll make a point of looking at the TC26....I'm sold on the utility of tractors that size. Same dealer sells both here and they treat me right.
