Jealousy is the last thing I was trying to achieve with this thread. I know what I want, but also realize that I have more than a few illogical/foolish desires.

I was making an attempt at humor. I love the idea of a 357 at my side. That will get anybody's and anythings attention.

The cowboys and gun-men of the old west usually matched their pistols/rifles so that their gun belt had only one ammo. The 44-40 ammo was pretty common back then.
I remember seeing a .357 carbine lever but can't remember the maker. Rossi products that I have had in my hands seem to be of low quality [steel and design], fit, and finish. See what you can find in Marlin or Winchester.

Foolish? Heck no.

Not foolish at all; did it myself a couple of times myself.

I now, however prefer a rifle caliber such as .223/5.56 or .243 in my rifles to reach out there beyond effective ranges of pistol calibers.

I carry a Taurus .357 Mag w/4" barrel...

I open carry a Taurus 24x7 Titanium 9mm auto with 17 rounds on my property.
It is a shockingly accurate pistol.

I do not think you are foolish.

I really appreciate all of the replies. I've been looking for a Marlin/Winchester for a few months, but haven't found one in my area yet. They seem to be pretty scarce right now, especially with a 20" barrel.

I carry a Taurus .357 Mag w/4" barrel when I'm out on my farm, and I really want a .357 Mag lever action rifle, w/20" barrel to carry as well as a compliment to the pistol. Reasoning being that I only have to carry 1 ammo type with me when I'm out there.
Am I foolish to spend the money on a .357 lever action just to fill my desire to have the same ammo delivery system?
You and I must have the same brain. I have Taurus 669, looking high and low for a Browning B-92 in .357 . Other makers have them, too. Not any more expensive than a good AR type rifle.

Try Henry rifles they make lever actions in 357 mag and 44 mag too

Not in my opinion...you know from other posts, I have a Marlin 1894 in .357. And, I also agree about maintaining a limited variety of calibers.

I looked at those, they only make teh bigger caliber rifles with the 'brass' receivers. Too flashy for me. I emailed them and asked if they made any of these with a steel case-colored or blued receiver, all I got back was a short 'NO' type email. Kinda turned me off to them, no attempt to accomodate whatsoever.

Not foolish at all. I have a glock 26 9mm and have been thinking of getting a glock 17 as well. I like the little g26 because it's easily carried and I'll leave the larger g17 upstairs in my bedroom nightstand. I have a .38 downstairs just incase the you know what hits the fan and I happen to be down stairs. You can never have too many guns.

The Glock 17 is, IMHO, the best of the breed. Be a good addition to your collection...
However, get a feel for a 19 as well...
