I think my factory Dodge hitch is class-3? It does not say on the hitch.It does say :
Weight bearing 5000lb/500lb tongue weight
Weight Distributed 10,000lb/1,000 tongue weight.

These guys are all right. Its a 7K trailer which means if you pull it across a scale there can be no more than 7K on the tandem axles. The trucks hitch can carry weight. With a 7k trailer the 2500 factory hitch will be fine but the GM hitches leave a lot to be desired. I would not put more than a 10K trailer on the factory hitch. Not bashing GM because I bent my F-250 hitch also.

How far are you going? How often?

You are maxing out the trailer but I am sure it is built with a safety margin.

Your truck is plenty but I would prefer a stronger trailer.

I am on the opposite end of these weight limits. I tow my 4000 pound B21 on a 3000 pound equipment trailer that has two 6,000 braked axles behind my Dodge Dakota. The B21 and trailer combined are right at the trucks maximum tow rating. The trailer brakes reduce the stopping load on the truck and the 4.7 V8 gets it rolling fine. I hauled the B21 about 250 miles from where I bought it with this setup and have made several 10 to 20 mile trips since.

I would like a bigger truck but the new house comes first.

If the tractor is 4418# + 900# (BH) + 500# ( filled tires) = 5818 + 1950(trailer) = 7768#

Putting the 768# on the ball would make just under 11%.

The factory owners manual states tractor weight of 3050lbs without FEL. I think the 4418lbs stated by the tractorguy website is with FEL. That means the FEL weighs 1368lbs. I don't think it really weighs that much. (5 foot skid steer bucket) The backhoe owners manual says it weighs 900lbs.
Few pics to give perspective on the machine size. BB and bush hog are 5 footers, they don't cover the rear tracks 100%.

My 28 HP Jinma has a loader that has a 5' bucket and it weighs 880# according to the sites link I posted below. I believe it is this heavy because I have 2 buckets, a 5' and a 4' and they weigh about 250# or more each. This is not my tractor but my loader is just like it. I think your loader is this heavy or more.

You will still be fine, but you have the 6.0L gas, it is only rated to pull 10-10.5k lbs with the 4.10 rearend. Here are the best guides so you can look up your specific truck.

Sorry, I was referring to the Raw GVW vs Axle rating #s. Trying to figure out how Hudson got to their #s

8950 GVRW
- 7000 Axle Rating
= 1950 on the tongue

Maybe I am simplifying it too much and missing something. Also,my quick in my head calc was off! 1950/8950= approx 22% on the tongue at max axle load of 7K not 30%
