650 lbs sounds aweful light. If I'm reading my manual right for my 1830, it says 1250.

I think it's 1,100 or 1,200 lbs at the lift pins and 670 lbs 24" behind the lift pins. Basically, the weight rating depends on how far back of the lift pins the center of gravity is.

gentlemen,
at some point in the near future i will update my profile. currently, i own a bx1850. which is on the trade block as we speak. i will be trading up in bx size, mainly to get more hp a the pto for an rtr tine tiller, chipper and post hole digger. i also have made my desire known about leaving the '50 series whiplash behind, thank you kubota customer service. my deadline with my dealer and war department approaches.
what made me inquire with my orginal question was, as i peered at the specs for land pride tillers . . . .basically, an rtr0550 was weighing in at under
300 lbs, 13 inch rotor swing and shorter warranty, and a rtr1050 weighs in over 400 lbs., 15" rotor swing and a longer warranty.
i already own a rear tine 8 hp honda tiller, it weighs in a 278 lbs with wheel weights and can oftend be pitched around when tilling. i am as cautious buying something right sized . . . . with the right amount of weight (that's why i inquirered), almost more than anything else.
thank you to those who responded. i will post if the diesel changes.
thanks a million, shrekbelly

Glad I ran across this post. I have been wondering the same thing about my new BX. The fact that the 3-Point Hitch claims to be a full Category 1 yet my dealer keeps wanting to sell a sub-compact series box blade to me or modify a regular model by turning in the lift pins and cutting a notch in the angle iron has me scratching my head. The dealer says that the arms of the tractor's 3-point have to be stretched so far out to fit Cat 1 implements that they don't leave any room for "play" so they don't like using them. O.K., so Cat 0 spacing is 20" and Cat 1 spacing is 26"... what's the "comfortable" spread on a late model BX series? Originally I thought that the only issue with the BX series 3-Point was the fact that the tractor sat lower to the ground. I had no idea width was a factor as well...
