The brake shaft rotates independently of the clutch pedal. Have someone else press the left brake pedal and watch the rod going to the brake and you'll see how it works.

Thank you, I now understand, it passes from the right side to the left side on the same pivot point.

John,
I was thinking about your clutch problem. Going back to what you stated on 5/2 that you have to throttle down to get it into gear and it barely disengages.
It might be way out of adjustment or your clutch forks are severely worn.
How much free play is in the clutch pedal? should be around 1-1/2".
Have to replace my clutch last year, there was just no adjustment left on the rod to reduce the free play.

Thank you very much for thinking again and posting about my problem. Here is a video of it, it is a grinding noise it makes only when in gear and the clutch is depressed.

John,
From the video it sounds like the throw out bearing is the the noise.
Looks like you have too much free play in the clutch. That's probably why it's hard to get into gear. You can try to adjust it to about 1-1/2" and see if that helps getting it into gear.
The only thing that fixes the noise is a new bearing.
It might be time to replace the clutch.
Did mine last summer. For less than $500 I have a tractor that will probably last until I trade it in for a wheel chair.

John:

I think the rod I referred to in my first post, second picture, is the 238mm shown in your picture, can you verify this for me?

You really can't see the clutch rod in your picture.
The rod is mostly in the drive shaft tunnel, pretty much centered.
If you look under and move the clutch pedal you'll be able to see the rod and turnbuckle.
