Re: Am i still a man if I don\'t own a pickup truck?
Tough decision. If you have a good running $2500 pickup, it would seem to be a very economical alternate vehicle to own, while saving gas driving the car.
I drive 110 miles a day round trip to work and drive a 2003 GMC extended cab pickup. It gets about 18mpg on the highway and the fuel cost is killing me.
However, at least a couple of times a month I need it while I am in Dallas, and I can pick up stuff and head back out the 50 miles or so I live away. Two by fours, plywood, a welder that I rented, fuel for the tractor and lawn mowers, duck and fish food, seed, fertilizer, etc.
I'd like to drive something more economical, but frankly I love driving this truck on my commute because it is super comfortable, and useful as well. So for now I am eating the extra fuel expense.
