Debrushing fence is where I shine. I've had it running down my arms and dripping off my fingers....and wasn't even aware of it, until blood was everywhere. I just keep working, while my wife is screaming you need to go to the emergency room. Blood thinners will do that to you.

I'm with you there...Twice now I have been go along at a good clip bush hogging one of my fence lines and not noticed a long blackberry cane.. Full of Thorns...until I felt pain and saw the thorns ripping across my chest and arm..blood flowed and I stopped and had to try and slowly back up as I pulled the cane..thorn by thorn out of my flesh...I hope I don't repeat it again this season..

Another reason for olive oil being so important to your diet.

My dad had a saying when one cracks their knuckles, draws blood, etc... while working on something; "That's just the trade sinking in". Believe me, I had other choice words to use. : ) Roger

Back in the '70s when volunteering at a rail road museum, I fell of a car into a pile of scrap metal and laid my hand open.

Then I decided that I would force myself to wear gloves no matter what. It took a few months, but a surprising number of the things that I swore required bare hands were doable.

Got two scabs in the works now. They were "just quick little things" where they were so straight forward that I didn't need gloves.

Scars on your hands are how old people show the young pups that they got the job done.

The jobs is just not done right until someone is bleeding. Around my house and my father's place, that someone is usually me!

I'm of the breed that cannot stand gloves unless in the extreme cold. Therefore I'm always healing up after a project. When my wife buries me, I'll have fresh cuts on my hands...

I am also on blood thinner, from a blood clot to my lungs. I am bad about injuries to my legs. I bought a couple of packages of QuickClot. I carry them with me all the time.

Busted knuckles and runnin' blood have been part of my life since I was big enough to drag a hammer for my dad. I have a heck of a time making myself wear gloves, but I've found some that I can keep on my hands most of the time without ripping them off in frustration.

About 2/3 of the way down that page you'll find the "Nitrile Tough" model. They're good, they fit, they stay reasonably cool in the summer and reasonably warm in the winter, you can "feel" through them very well and they're cheap. Look for them in tack stores. Our local feed and tack has them for about $2.50 a pair. Some places charge as much as $5. Gempler's has them, if you can't find them locally.

ya know this reminds me of an old combat instructor's favorite little chant...
He used to tell us that "blood blood blood makes the grass grow"....But you know how US Marines are...

while I am not sure sure about that.
But it sure does make loose bolts turn loose! so I agree with the OP.....

For example, everytime I have one of those hard bolts, as soon as I slip and spill a little blood, the next push breaks it free....
Or is that just me?

Later,
J
