Late night in the shop, but the outcome is a couple of new solid oak end tables for my wife. Sanding, staining and clearing will wait a day or two. This wood in particular is white oak I cut, milled, dried, and planed myself. Talk about gratifying. Heavy solid oak is hard to beat, especially considering I walked up to the tree, decided it needed to be in my living room, and saw it through.

So far I've built about half the furniture in our house. Have lumber and plans for much more. Time is what I have the least of it seems.

Very nice. I am a hobbiest woodworker but I don't seem to get much time to work on my hobby lately.

I'm with you, GW. I like woodworking, although don't get to do much of it any more. I hang out at this site some:

Workshop Addict - Woodworking, Metal Fabrication, DIY & Home Remodelling Forum

It's a great site and a great bunch of folks. Nice tables, BTW. I like the White Oak also, but I like it a lot more after I get it planed.

I could spend an infinite amount of time building furniture. I just love everything about it. Unfortunately, life is busy.

I'm with ya on planing hardwood. Everything about white oak is tough. This is post oak specifically. Super hard on blades. Sure holds up well though.

Here's a desk I designed and built for my Grandson. It's White Oak. Got him through high school and four years at Oklahoma State.

That's great. Starting with a standing tree to house furniture is a terrific feeling.

Iv'e got a nice stock of maple and red oak with a few pieces of other woods stock piled. Situations beyond my control have limited my finished products but the pile of savings is very consider
Two pictures of bread board and mug . All that is on the iPad.

...and saw it through.

Nice pun! :D
Nice table too. I like the grain variations of white oak, but it's not as available here compared to red oak.

Very nice. I also enjoy woodworking and being able to create what I want when I need it. My long term goals include a much, much larger shop so I can have more tools and store more lumber!!!
