Amazing 50hr. service costs

The JD dealer told me to just blow out the filter with air and it would be fine. They don't even *stock* the air filters.. they are needed so rarely.. so they say..

I have over 600 hours on my air filter and it is in fine shape.Never been cleaned yet.

Most likely you're right on the inner filter. The place I got them from even questioned whether I really needed that one or not. The outer one, on the other hand, needed to be replaced as I am working on a new lawn. Sometimes the dust got so thick while mowing during last years drought that you could hardly breath.....or see. There was som much junk in the air when I mowed that I would have to stop at least six times on a 2.25 acre lot to clear the tractors grill as it started to overheat. I'm sure glad that's over!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I would do that service myself and pay myself the 160 dollars. That is the best deal in town. J

One mistake on the price I quoted for Hoobers. It is $179.95 sorry for the mistake. I called to confirm this morning. I was told by three of the dealers that if the 50 service was not done by me or them it would affect the warrenty. I was also told that I should have them do it so they could check for metal particles in the hydro and engine oil. The breakdown is as follows, anywhere between $86.85 for a five gallon container of case super UDT oil, engine oil and all the filters or $106 for for three gallons of Kubota oil, engine oil and all the filters. I was quoted over $15 a gallon for Kubota Super UDT oil. So Hoobers is around $84 for labor verse's up to $226 for the labor from other dealers. Quite frankly for approximately 3hrs. of my business time I'll pay the 84 dolars. I can go cut three properties and make a profit of 50 for the morning even though I pay the bucks to the dealer this time, from then on it's home maint. on a regular basis. Mark

The three hours--where does that come from? It took me roughly about an hour for the oil and filters and greasing and so on and about 30 minutes for the MMM sharpening. The price they are charging seems reasonable though and not a bad deal at all. The part about home service is all the oil disposal. Hauling it here and there. What a pain. J
