Almost missed the Studebaker. Had a friend in High school who drove a Golden Hawk car and a Studebaker pick up truck. They were his grandfathers who had worked there.

We still see them on the road around here, almost weekly. That Bendix Woods I linked to was the old Bendix proving grounds. There are tracks of all sorts in use by Bendix, Allied, Bosch, heck, its been sold again recently I think maybe to Navistar? Anyhow, the land around the tracks has been a county park since perhaps the 70's. They had a couple small (but steep) ski slopes there. Had to close them due to liability insurance costs. The living tree sign at one time was the largest advertising sign in the world. You can rent a letter to have a picnic in! :laughing:

Yes, tow ropes, poma lifts and T bars. Of course no one ever fell down while on the lift did they. Then there was getting back on if one did fall down.

Any recall wooden skis with metal edges, cable bindings or the name Hart, head or rossignol?

I still have my K2 Holidays... first step in bindings for me and my leather Nordica Buckle boots... last time I went to Squaw... they sold me a ticket and were not going to let me on the lift... I convinced them otherwise.

Mom still has her Austrian made skis and lace up boots and cable bindings... they are wood with metal edge... bought at Sears.

We used to call the T bar Poma lifts "nutbreaker". When I was kid there were no rope lifts but steel cable lifts. You had to have your own "anchor" that you hooked up on the cable and as long as you pulled on the rope attached to your body (belt) the anchor stayed on the cable. When you wanted to disconnect you just pulled yourself little bit up and then let go and the anchor would fall off.
Oh yes I am very familiar with hickory skis and metal edges screwed on them and ironing special rezin on them before the season.

Craigslist does limit what can be advertised... I have a garage full of medical equipment from my biomed days and it would be great to be able to advertise just so it could find new homes...

Things like OR tables, defibrillators, monitors... even a medical lasers.

I've donated a truck load to Medshare which really helped.

It sure would be great if I could advertise on CL...

Yep. Same folks. Bendix was a major employer here in South Bend for many decades. I think, at its height just after WWII it had something like 12,000 employees. Even in the late 60's us kids had to be off the street by 3:00pm because the Bendix workers would be driving through at 3:05!

I still have a pair of Northland arch top hickory skis. I remember when I took the square toe binding off and put Northland Ski Free release bindings on. I think they came out a year before Cubco bindings. One of the slopes used a OC3 with 4X4s bolted to the track for packing the snow. The tows, there were three to get to the top of the hill, had a safety shut down that was a clothes pin with with the mag ground wires on the two fingers. A wood wedge between the wires kept the wires apart. A cord attached to the wedge was strung across the end of the lift. If you didn't get off, the string pulled the wedge out and the mag shorted out. The first lift was a fast one. I asked why and the attendant said, "If they can't get up the hill, we don't have to worry about them coming down." A lift ticket was $2.50 for all day.
