Amazon Sucks

What is the summary of what you get with Amazon Prime? It is fairly pricey annual dues, if memory serves, so I have not signed up (yet).

Prime costs $79 per year, but it gets you free two day shipping, plus instant video (movies and TV shows) and you can borrow some Kindle books to read.

It may not be for everyone, especially if you don't have high speed internet or a Kindle, but just the instant video is fairly cheap, since I think NetFlix is $7.95 a month just for the streaming video.
I get quite a bit of stuff off of Amazon, so I love the free shipping. They've got a pretty good selection on the instant video (though not quite as much as NetFlix) and my wife usually "borrows" a book every month, so I consider it to be a decent value.

For the same $79 my wife and two adult daughters living elsewhere also get free shipping all year. Unbeatable. $79 buys a tank of gas or free shipping for four purchasers for a year.

I don't have Prime, but if one spends $35, (used to be $25), shipping is free. I've only rarely had something take loner than 2 days to arrive. And, it doesn't take long to spend $35. If my needed items are not enough, I always have a coup[el of items on my "Wish List", that are there because they didn't make $35, and I add enough of them to "fill out" my order.

I'm very limited on bandwisth, so don't stream videos. And I still find decent books available for free on Amazon, without using Prime, just not as many.

Amazon also has magazines quite cheaply and their cost can be applied toward the $35 minimum for shipping.

Bought some other stuff with it Buck 110 classic folder still made in USA with Mexican leather built sheath. Even Wally world sells-em for a bit more. Thought it was a good deal. Some of you's might want to order one for yourselfs.

FYI - if you live in Indiana, you will now start paying a 7% sales tax on Amazon.

I think the state tax issue comes up if the company has a presence in your state. I used to order a lot of computer hardware from Newegg, for years they didn't charge any tax, but then they put a distribution center here in the state and while I got most of my parts quicker, I had to pay sales tax on the whole order.
