The new trees just being planted are NOT cross's from trees showing natural disease resistence as have been handed out in the past. These are trees which have been geneticly altered in the lab. They are also NOT availalbe for general planting, in fact, they are being put out in fenced areas to conduct additional testing for unanticipated traits both positive and negative. There are a number of different alterations being tested in areas where known blight activity is present.
