Ammo can toolbox on any tractor w/ ROPS

I should have mentioned that I also added about 1/2" length of 1/4" fuel line on the bolts that go from the angle iron into the ammo can so the rubber hose would be compressed like a rubber washer against the drilled out holes and would help to prevent rattle or water from getting in when it rains or when I wash it off.

My 2538 had no step on the right side so i made brackets that bolted to the step mounts and came up about 2 ft. The ammo can is bolted on top the mounts , Solid as a rock and out of the way.

I just removed the factory plastic box and installed a useable toolbox in the same place.

I don't have any empty ammo cans so I bought this cheapie.

Big 50cal ammo box. Attached with 2” square U-bolts to the front ROPS. Added 3.5 x 5.5” x 0.25” plates inside and outside to strengthen attachment to the box sheetmetal side. Also gives clearance for lid flanges. Large size accommodates tool, hammer, wrenches better. Added lock stud. Bought from Ammocan man.

Have a regular 50cal on smaller tractor as a first attempt. Used two existing ROPS bolts. Found the big 50cal is much better for tools afterwards.

The lids are designed to slide off the hinges. Open lid on running tractor while hooking up equipment can vibrate off. To prevent this added a small bolt at hinge. A sheetmetal screw would probably work too.
